At the past TOAE (Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition) I had a bit of an accident, my wall blew down and one of my paintings got scraped and punctured. So the last few days I learned how to repair a punctured canvas. I’m very grateful my art has solid colours so repainting after was relatively simple.
To fix the hole what I did was:
1. Place a piece of canvas to the back of the painting then attach it in Gesso.
2. Apply 5 coats of gesso to front to build it up
3. Sand down the Gesso
4. Re-paint
Thats all it took, it looks perfect now, you can’t even see that anything happened. See photos for before and after (sorry photos are different hues, thats from taking photos with different lighting).
